Assynt mrt area of cover

The Assynt Mountain Rescue Team covers the counties of Caithness and Sutherland, one of the largest areas covered by any mountain rescue team in Scotland.
Team membership is stable at around forty with most being located in three areas, Assynt (Inchnadamph and Lochinver), North West Sutherland (Kinlochbervie, Scourie and Durness) and Caithness (Thurso and Halkirk). They also have a few team members in other areas of the 2 counties (Portskerra, Strathy, Golspie, Rosehall, etc).
The main team base and vehicle garage is at Inchndamph, conveniently close to the Hotel where light refreshments are sometimes taken, and there is also an equipment store and vehicle at the Police Station in Thurso.
