Forsinard Lodge is set in the Sutherland flow country of the North of Scotland and is surrounded by a R.S.B.P. Nature Reserve.
It was originally built, in the 1870’s as a Sporting Lodge for the Sutherland Estates and still remains a Sporting Lodge with a beat on the Halladale River included in the rent.
They can arrange additional fishing on the Halladale, trout fishing in the numerous hill lochs also stalking or shooting holidays. Although it was built in the 1870s it has undergone many transformations, the latest being a complete renovation and refurbished.

Loch Hope
Loch Hope is a six-mile long stretch of fresh water, 15 feet or so above sea-level, and around two miles inland from Sutherland’s wild north coast. It’s famous for its sea-trout, which can be caught from June to September. With 11 boats at three mooring locations, Loch Hope is reckoned by many to offer the finest sea trout fishing in Scotland. We’re now taking bookings for the 2009 season. Boats can be taken at the North End, Middle Bay or South End, on daily or weekly lets.
The loch lies amidst spectacular scenery and is approximately six miles north/south by up to one mile wide, dropping to a depth of over 180 feet in Middle Bay. The west shoreline is trackless and may on only be reached on foot or by boat. The narrow, twisting, single-track road from Altnaharra in the south to Hope in the north margins the east shore.
The fishing is done by boat, either by dapping or with a wet fly. There are 11 boats on the Loch, with three mooring locations. Fishing can be booked by telephone from April onwards, and before that by post.
Ben Loyal Hotel in Tongue has leased fishing rights on the South End of Loch Hope. Hope is a big loch, nearly 6 miles long and with productive fishing areas in much of its length either dapping or wet fly. It averages upwards of 500 sea trout per season, as well as useful numbers of salmon and grilse. The hotel also has its own boat on the South End of Loch Hope. Details are: here
