Modern comfortable self-catering bothy for two people in a remote part of North-West Sutherland.
Combine fly fishing for brown trout with bird watching, golfing and exploring the wonderful beaches of the north coast, as well as many other local attractions. Altnaharra is a small hamlet in Sutherland in the Highland region of northern Scotland. The hamlet is on the A836 road, close to its junction with the B873 road.
The Strathmore River which flows northwards into Loch Hope is very much a spate river but it can provide excellent sport for both salmon fishing and sea trout fishing. This shingle based river contains some of the main spawning ground for the Hope river system. Thigh waders are normally sufficient but there are some pools where no wading is necessary.
This Scottish Highland Accommodation with Superior Fishing and Deerstalking self-catering accommodation is in a wonderful area for sportsmen looking for fishing and deer stalking, bird watching, hill walking and also for general touring. Also offer amazing views of Ben Hope, the Strathmore River and the surrounding open landscape.
Two nearby Lochs were stocked with brown trout some years ago. These Lochs are easily accessible and can be fished from either the bank or from a boat on the larger loch. Only barbless hooks may be used on these lochs as one likes to return any small fish. One child under fourteen years may fish free.
All fishing is with fly only. Prices are available on request and vary according to the time of year.
