Delicious food in a sumptuous setting

The new café bar at Strathpeffer Pavilion is serving up the perfect blend of Victorian elegance and Scottish fare with aside dish of local art and great entertainment.

The tastefully refurbished restaurant, which used to be occupied by Red Poppy, is establishing itself as a popular eatery with locals and visitors alike.

Local chef Raymond MacLean is the mastermind behind the menu and daily specials which contain a wide range of delicious meals using only the finest Highland produce.

Dishes include oven baked filo parcels stuffed with haggis and served with a whisky cream sauce dip; pan seared salmon fillet topped with a sun-dried tomato butter and roasted brie with hazelnut crumb served with mango and chilli salsa.

The Pavilion café bar also has a mouth-watering selection of homemade cakes, which customers can enjoy on their own, at the end of a meal or as part of a traditional afternoon tea. Even the tea served at the café bar is special as the Pavilion has been chosen as suppliers of eteaket tea –a prestigious blend only found in exclusive venues, which is also available to buy .

But it is not all about good food and drink at the café bar because the space is also being used to display art work for sale from local artists and to hold events that are too small for the main hall, such as live acoustic sessions.

Fact file:
The café bar is operated by Strathpeffer Pavilion Ltd, which is a wholly owned training subsidiary, and all the profits from the eatery go towards the upkeep of the building.

The café bar will also cater for conference and meetings taking place at the Pavilion, while weddings and private parties have the option of bringing in an outside caterer .
