The Advice Shop opened on the 14th December 2004 offering advice on various issues including Welfare Benefits, Debt, etc. This service is provided for a small consultation fee. Currently there are over 700 live cases still being dealt with and this is increasing on a daily basis. Our senior adviser has over 20 years experience in the legal and the welfare rights sector, offering an efficient and professional service.
The Advice Shop aims to provide an advisory service to residents of the City of Sunderland and surrounding areas, offering advice on; Welfare Benefits, Debt, Consumer, County Court Procedures, Education Matters, etc. The service is provided, Monday to Friday, from the hours of 10am till 4pm.
We offer a home visit policy which allows members of the public, who require our service, to be seen in the comfort of their own home. This, so far, is the only organisation that has this facility. We can, on most occasions, see clients within 24 hours or less. Please note, there is an emergency service available where clients can be seen the same day.
The Advice Shop works closely with the Local Authority and Department of Works and Pensions, other organisations, such as voluntary and charitable organisations.
We offer a professional advisory service to the residents of the City of Sunderland and surrounding areas, at the same time, empowering and educating them to their legal entitlements, their rights, and hopefully, make them more confident and aware of their own abilities.
