Based in Aberfeldy, Highland Safaris Gold Panning & Visitor Centre offer award winning Land Rover safaris and Off Road Driving as well as a chance to pan for gold in our purpose built panning flume at Scotland’s first Safari Lodge. Enjoy a coffee in our Safari Cafe. Explore our Discovery Garden or feed the Deer in our Deer Park. Something for everyone.
Safari Options:
There is a safari for all ages and interests. Just ask!
- Mountain Safari – 2 1/2 hour to heights of nearly 3000`with amazing views and the chance to see some of our rare Highland Wildlife
- Forest Safari- A shorter safari which provides the perfect opportunity to introduce your children to the wonders of the natural environment. Discover tracks, trails, views and clues.
- Mountain Safari Trek – 4 hours. Head up to the high ridges by safari Land Rover for an easy paced wilderness walk through some of Scotland’s most stunning scenery in search of wildlife, flora, fauna and history. Enjoy refreshments and a delicious Ghillies picnic lunch in our exclusive hill bothy.
- Mountain Combo Safari – 2 1/2 hours. An exclusive safari. A mix of our Mountain Safari and an opportunity to take the wheel and drive on our exciting forest tracks. Includes refreshments.
- 4 x 4 Off-Road Adventure Trailing – 1 1/2 or 3 hours. You drive the trail! Find out what these Land Rovers can really do on the highest off road driving course in the UK. Forge your way along forest tracks, over mountain burns, up slippery slopes and down almost vertical descents with the reassuring company of an experienced and qualified off road driving instructor.
- Cycling Safaris – Escape with bikes on this fantastic ‘Drop at the Top’ cycle safari. Load your bikes onto our trailer and be taken to an effortless hilltop start where you can enjoy fantastic views. Suitable for all ages, perfect for the whole family. Bike hire can be arranged.
Red Deer Encounter. Get up close to these magnificent animals and help feed them. Every day at 1230hrs.
Highland Scotland’s Gold Panning Centre:
A chance to actually pan for real Gold and Gem stones! Armed with your own bucket of dirt & pan, you can scoop and swirl in our purpose built panning flume to hunt for real gold as well as many beautiful semi precious gem stones. After easy instructions from our resident expert, you’ll soon be panning like a “pro” and quickly find out that panning is great fun, and whatever you find you get to take home in a special bag!
At Scotland’s first Safari Lodge, walk the Viewpoint Trail and enjoy our Deer Park where you can come face to face with Britain’s largest land mammal. Visit our Wildlife Discovery Garden with lots of exciting activities including Pond Dipping, Mini Beast hunts and bird viewing hide. Don’t miss the Safari Lodge Shop with exciting gifts, craft, toys and jewellery and relax over irresistible home baking or a light lunch in our Safari Cafe.
