Handa Island near Durness

Handa Island is an extremely important seabird breeding colony and nature reserve. The island is beautiful with its dramatic cliffs that dominate the island. There are many grey seals and common seals on the beaches. The common seal is actually less common than the grey seal and so it is therefore very important that colonies are maintained. There are regular boat trips from Tarbet, near Scourie, just off the coastal route from Ullapool to Durness, Sutherland
