Ardtalnaig Lodge was built during 2007 to provide a comfortable home from home. Built to be eco-friendly with recycling in mind, the heating is provided by a ground source heat pump, the timber framed building used wood from sustainable forests.
The small village of Ardtalnaig on the south side of Loch Tay is a quiet peaceful location between Killin and Kenmore. Centrally situated in the heart of Scotland, Aberfeldy, Perth and Glencoe are all easily acessible by car.
A long distance footpath – ‘The Rob Roy Way’ and National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 7, pass by the front door so are well placed for walkers and cyclists needing comfortable overnight accommodation to rest their weary legs!
Loch Tay, one of Scotland’s most beautiful lochs set in Highland Perthshire is a wonderful area to explore at any time of the year. There is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy. Walkers with an adventurous streak will find many good mountain walks in the area and for the less energetic, plenty of shorter low level walks. For the cyclists, both on and off road, suitable for all ages and abilities.
Other outdoor activities in the area include, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, white water rafting, canyoning, wildlife safaris, fishing and shooting; and there are several good golf courses nearby. There is much to see and do in the area, from exploring the local hills and glens to visiting the local Crannog Centre or whisky distilleries. The Pitlochry Festival Theatre is 45 minutes away and is well known for its varied programme of events shown throughout the summer months.
Afternoon tea or supper with tea/coffee and homebaked cakes will be provided on arrival. There are a number of good restaurants and eating places in easy driving distance, including the Fortingall, Kenmore and Ardeonaig Hotels. If you arrive on foot or by bike then we can arrange transport to a local restaurant or we will provide an evening meal by prior arrangement. A cooked breakfast will include eggs from our own hens and sausages are sourced locally, alternatively, a substantial continental style breakfast, including fruit, youghurt and homemade bread and jams can be provided for those wanting an early start. Facilities will be provided for you to make your own packed lunch, for an additional charge.
Accommodation is provided in 2 rooms, 1 double/twin plus an additional single bed (i.e. 3 berth) with an ensuite shower room; 1 twin/bunk with use of private shower room situated on the ground floor. Drying facilities are available and there is a cycle shed with secure locking facilities.
Visitors are welcome to enjoy the garden or idle the time away enjoying the scenery from the front porch.
