Situated in our own grounds within the delightful village of Portpatrick, near Stranraer, Rickwood House combines quality accommodation with comfort and good food with a warm welcome.
We are a family run guest house – Visit Scotland 3 Star Gold accommodation. Maggie & Fred Findlay are your hosts and have run Rickwood for the last 10 and a bit years. We describe ourselves as a Hotel Style Guest House as we try to combine the facilities of a small hotel with the personal touches and attention to detail of a quality Guest House or B&B.
Our aim is to provide the best 3* Guest House Accommodation in Scotland and our recent Gold Award puts us in the Top 10 of three star Guest Houses / B&Bs in Scotland .We are the only 3 star guest house in the South of Scotland with a gold award.
Rickwood House is situated quietly, near Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Course, overlooking the village and the Irish Sea yet we are only a few minutes walk from the centre of Portpartick.
The house known today as Rickwood House Hotel was built in Edwardian times for the Factor of Portpatrick, Dunskey Estate, and was known as The Factors House. In 1959, the house changed hands and became Rickwood House Hotel.
Our Guest House has been modernised to a high standard and offers quality accommodation in six stylish bedrooms. All have en-suite showers, some have baths also. All rooms have controllable heating, well stocked hospitality trays and DVD players. Two of our rooms are on the ground floor.
We recently added a conservatory lounge for our guests to relax at any time of day either with a drink or just to enjoy the view. We have a large garden with seating areas for your comfort.
Our master bedroom has been completely refurbished to a luxurious standard and is named the “Factors Suite” – to provide that extra touch of luxury. Please see our rooms & prices page for full details. We now also have a ground floor twin bedded room and king-size double room upgraded to a similar standard as The Factors Suite.
