Simple, safe access solutions
Attitude and altitude go hand in hand for a powered access company that’s recently expanded into the Highlands and is providing bespoke safety training.
Access Platforms Aberdeen was established in 2005 to provide powered access solutions (platforms and equipment) to businesses throughout Scotland. Its modern fleet of more than 180 platforms is available for contract hire.
The company has recently opened an office in Dingwall (Access Platforms Highland) under the management of Liam Christie. Liam is the former commercial director of Ross County Football Club, and the Bank of Scotland. He’s bringing vital experience, enthusiasm and a wealth of contacts to the team: “I relish a new challenge and finding ways to expand our business into the Highlands will be a great achievement. We know that there is significant demand for this type of equipment so we’re delighted to have such a fine-tuned system in place to ensure that client needs are met. We carry out free site surveys to recommend the best access solution.
“We also offer certified training to ensure that any personnel using our platforms are up to speed with safety, procedure, legislation and good practice. Our training is fully mobile and tailored to suit each company. We are fully certified IPAF training providers (International Powered Access Federation). Training is delivered to groups of four people to ensure that there is always additional support, and an interactive learning opportunity. We know the importance of answering questions in detail; bespoke training packages enable us to fulfill this. We can also provide training for safe use, fitting of, and inspection of safety harnesses.
“Being able to offer this service is a real boost. It means that a company that requires an access platform [scissor lift, articulated, vertical mast, truck mounted] can call us, arrange training and delivery and rest assured that we have taken care of all of the rest. The firm can rely on our expertise instead of having to check legislation themselves or work out if their staff certificates are up to date. We provide simple, effective, safe access solutions.”
Access Platforms Aberdeen is in its sixth year of trading. Sixteen members of staff meet the needs of the company’s several hundred strong client base. Access solutions are a vital component for a diverse range of industries including construction, painting and decorating, window cleaning, and the oil industry. Top clients include Morrison Construction, Hutcheon Services, BP, Halliburton, Mitie, Balfour Beatty, and Baker Hughes.
Access Platforms is one of the Haulotte Group’s biggest customers in the UK. The Haulotte Group is a major French aerial work platform manufacturer. It is the third-largest company in the world in this industry.
Liam continued: “I’m a firm believer that knowledge, exceeding customer expectations and delivering state of the art equipment are key to our success.
“My role revolves around logistics and sales. I am trained to work at height so I have first hand experience of the requirements. As a firm we’re prepared to diversify so that we can meet the additional needs of any customers and we work hand in hand with other specialist suppliers of MEWPs (mobile elevating work platforms). We have our own team of fitters who ensure that all of our equipment is well maintained and operating at its optimum.
“Access Platforms is very much a family run business that makes itself available 24 hours a day. Our level of repeat business goes a long way to underlining our commitment to excellence.”
