Orca Management Training was established by Ray Knox in November 2004 and has operated from Deerness in Orkney since June 2005.
The company’s goal is to “work for its clients’ success” and this embodies Orca’s business ethos.
Ray has succeeded in bringing his experience of successful management and training delivery to the business community.
Orca has worked with clients from Shetland to London but spends a lot of time working with businesses in the Highland area.
The management training company deals with private, public and voluntary sector organisations and with people on an individual basis.
Although Ray is the only full-time member of staff, there is a number of associates who work with Orca in the Highlands and Central Belt when required.
“Orca works with clients in a number of ways,” says Ray. “With the individual, we work in a coaching capacity to help improve their performance and achieve the outcomes they require for themselves in the business environment and also, where requested, to help them to achieve their personal goals.
“With organisations, we can work in a management consultancy capacity helping them to develop their business or, in a training consultancy capacity, helping them to deliver their staff and ultimately their profitability.”
Orca has many areas of expertise but key aspects include stress management (both organisationally and individually), coaching, team development and change management.
Orca Management Training is also an accredited centre with the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and offers qualifications in management and coaching.
“This accreditation helps to establish the credibility of the business as we must adhere to certain quality standards to maintain this status,” says Ray.
The institute has shown through research that 92 per cent of coached managers see their performance improve and 95 per cent of organisations see tangible benefits to their operation.
Ray considers this a real benefit for businesses in the Highlands that are prepared to work with a reputable company such as Orca.
He prides himself on establishing long-term relationships with clients and to that end is dedicated to delivering real results for them.
