It is an auspicious year for many cultural institutions in Paisley, with the 850th Anniversary of Paisley Abbey, St Mirren winning the Scottish Communities League Cup, the town hosting the Gaelic Mod, and Paisley Art Institute celebrating its 125th Annual Exhibition.
Some of the world’s most famous artists from Rubens to Constable have had their artwork displayed at the institute’s Annual Exhibitions.
Paisley Art Institute has invited two huge figures in Scottish art to be Guest Artists this year – Duncan Shanks RSA RSW RGI and Tom McKendrick RSW RGI. The Institute will also be celebrating the 125th Annual Show with another exciting exhibition this summer, “Paisley Art Institute Past and Present”, which opens on July 5. This will feature holders of the Paisley Art Institute Diploma as well favourites from the Paisley Collection.
On show will be John Byrne, D Y Cameron, Boudin, le Sidaner, Sandy Goudie, Mary Armour, William Gillies and Joan Eardly chosen by artists such as Sandy Murphy, Jimmy Cosgrove, Helen Wilson, Helen Turner, Charlie Jamieson and Joe Hargan.
