One of Scotland’s leading plant and equipment companies, AB2000, has opened a new depot in Inverness bringing new jobs and inward investment to the area.

From its eight-acre site at Cambuslang, near Glasgow, AB2000 has operated the widest range of construction and specialised rail plant and cranes available anywhere in Scotland since 1995 and has now chosen Inverness as the company’s base in the north.

It has grown steadily thanks, inpart, to a brave decision to invest in railway equipment and cranes during the recession. The rail and crane divisions now account for 35 per cent of the company’s annual turnover.

In October 2012 last year the Inverness depot in Seafield Road was opened to serve the north and north-east of Scotland. In less than six months it has recruited more than 36 staff locally.

AB2000 has worked on some of the largest contracts ever carried out in Scotland, including motorways, wind farms, quarrying, shopping centres, and rail projects.

Its customers range from house builders, local authorities and groundwork contractors to global consultancies in industries as diverse as renewables. quarrying and manufacturing.
