Korrie Renewables

Renewable energy has become an important aspect of the work of Korrie Mechanical & Plumbing Ltd in the past three years, so much so that the Highland company is focusing its development plan particularly around this growing area of the market.

A major investment is under way in the form of Korrie Renewables and it has resulted in expansion on to a purpose-built site in Carsegate Road in Inverness – the Korrie Energy Park – opposite the parent company’s headquarters.

From there, Korrie has so far successfully completed around 400 projects, which range from large commercial developments to smaller domestic schemes, using a wide range of renewable technologies.

Biomass in particular is proving a specialist growth area of sustainable energy and the company’s success in this particular facet of the technology has led to the development of the unique Korrie Kabin, at the new Inverness premises.

The Korrie Kabin is a biomass boiler plant room designed with its own fuel store. Once constructed at the Korrie Energy Park, the kabin is transported to the client’s site and hooked up to any existing wet heating system where, as well as carrying out all the monitoring and evaluation and controls work, Korrie will install a heat meter or meters.

This allows the property owner to not only dramatically improve their fuel costs, but also makes them eligible for a government Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), which will be paid over 20 years, making the installation a very lucrative investment.

Korrie has already installed a number of biomass systems into schools and commercial properties over the last year, including at Gordonstoun, Speyside High School, Thurso High School, West Highland College UHI, Highland Folk Museum, Findhorn Foundation and at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium, home of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC.

The parent business has around 100 people working out of its three offices in Inverness, Thurso and Fort William and as it continues to grow and diversify, Korrie Renewables aims to be a market leader in renewable solutions in the Highlands and beyond.
