The LOT is an arts venue and bistro which aims to resource, present and develop the creative arts, providing a relaxed environment where people have the opportunity to celebrate and enjoy their own and others’ creativity.
We provide a space in the heart of Edinburgh for people to create, eat, meet and live life, a place where it is simply good to be.
Original artwork by local artists is displayed around the building and we showcase the woodwork of GROW, a social enterprise managed by the Greyfriars Community Project.
Our performance space has hosted Edinburgh’s weekly Ceilidh Club and has built a reputation as an excellent jazz venue promoting local and international artists. The venue is often used as a flexible meeting space for charities, individuals and community interest groups, as well as for ceilidhs, concerts, weddings, conferences and parties.
The LOT (Edinburgh) is a registered charity which exists to advance the arts and culture and the Christian faith, especially in our local community of Edinburgh. A full list of our charitable aims is available on request.
We place great emphasis on ethical and environmentally sound business decisions that will benefit the local community and our own staff, and a fair tipping policy is operated.
We have a recycling policy for all paper, plastic and glass, and all of our tea, coffee, chocolate and sugar is Fair Trade certified. We are the only permanent Edinburgh stockists of ‘Created’ ethical gifts.
We are committed to working alongside other businesses in the Grassmarket area, and are proud to be part of such a vibrant community of independent businesses.
