The conferencing and events sector is one area of the business world that has positively boomed thanks to advances and fine tuning in technology.
Desire to reach a wider audience, and to make events greener and leaner has encouraged the industry to mould to fit. It’s therefore crucial that you work with a company that understands these demands and guarantees a professional approach.
HCVF, established in 1982 and based in Inverness, is a media and event production company with a proven track record in turning vision into reality. The company has grown to accommodate the ever changing needs of conferences and events that are staged each year in the north of Scotland.
HCVF undertakes a range of diverse projects from supplying equipment for a small meeting facilitated over desktop video conferencing, to the full event production of international sales events for hundreds of staff (on one occasion the client asked for their screen to look like a giant smart phone, and for a bespoke desk to be manufactured!).
A recent project saw the HCVF technical team work alongside the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) so that its inaugural Christmas Lecture with David Sutherland MBE at Eden Court Theatre could be web cast in full High Definition (HD) video on Inverness TV, to a worldwide live audience.
Webcasting in HD requires a high level of bandwidth and thanks to a new high speed data link between Eden Court and UHI, the bandwidth now exists at Eden Court to not only webcast in HD, but also to video conference in HD at the same time.
David Eglinton of HCVF said: “During the webcast we can switch between video and computer sources seamlessly and instantly without losing picture quality. This means that we can stream a mix of live presenters, PowerPoint presentations, and DVD feeds so that the viewer has a ‘real’ experience. From their own location they will see exactly what the audience in-house is viewing. We can even make it interactive using instant messaging, social networking or microblogging.
“There is an ever developing demand for webcasting, and because of the geography of the Highlands and Islands, it’s often impractical for people to travel a great distance for a meeting or event. Webcasting offers organisations a greener way to reach a high number of people and it is also now a lot more cost effective. We can also assist with the production of video or audio podcasts, or filming of an event for a company’s own website or video-sharing websites.
“We see technology as a key enabler to keep businesses in the Highlands and Islands competing in a world market. The past five years has seen HCVF invest substantially in equipment so that organisations can use a local business to help them reach a wider audience using the array of new media opportunities enabled by the internet.
“We have a ready supply of all the audio-visual and projection equipment, staging and customised backdrop sets that any client will need to ensure that an event is pleasing to the eye as well as professionally managed. We have the technical expertise to assist with any type of business meeting and event. We are well placed to cope with last minute requests! If a client wants something we’ll go the extra mile to achieve it. Having a professional team on hand cannot be underestimated to make sure that an event goes to plan.
Event organisers need confidence in their conferences which is why we re there to check that the lighting is adequate, to ensure that we have the most effective audio equipment, to check adequate connectivity, to ensure that no other audio equipment being used in the building will interfere with the event technology, and to agree how best to work together post production. We offer quality throughout. This year we are celebrating our 30th birthday which just goes to show how reliable and adaptable we are!
“In 2009 we took our vision one step further and set up Inverness TV an online TV station (www.invernesstv.net) to help promote the best of what’s going on in and around Inverness. It features broadcasts of the area’s highlights (what to see, do and where to eat) as well as news, sport, and human interest features. Inverness TV is attracting viewers from around the globe.”
