In 2006, the massive, one million sq fit shopping developments opened in the heart of Pollok on the city’s south side and, despite the economic downturn, it is bucking the trend.
The £350million shopping centre at junction two of the M77 motorway is the fourth largest retail shopping development in Scotland and the ninth biggest in the UK. High street names sit alongside new arrivals The Perfume Shop, Hush Hair (the center’s first hairdressing salon), Chisholm Hunter, and Hawkins Bazaar.
Silverburn bosses are currently discussing plans to extend the centre. Another 10 unit’s form part of the exciting plans. Work is expected to begin at the start of 2010 and to finish by Christmas 2010.
It is now the fourth largest retail shopping development in Scotland. High street names such as Scotland’s largest Tesco, Next, Debenhams, and Marks & Spencer occupy the 95 units, with almost a dozen restaurants to choose from.
