Outdoor Education Richard Croft was appointed as Outdoor Education Adviser in June 2008. Ron Bulmer as Senior Instructor in October 2008. Ron enjoys participating in a large number of outdoor activities and has travelled extensively to take advantage of different locations.

Sue Whitworth as Orkney Field Teacher is available to organise and lead Field Study and environmental education trips. Each year two seasonal instructors are appointed. Maritime Orkney College’s Maritime Studies department is ideally situated on a waterfront site in busy Stromness Harbour. It has a long and distinguished history of providing education and training for generations of the seafarers from Orkney and beyond.
The Executive also works with the Scottish Social Services Council to see that the early years and childcare workforce are appropriately qualified, and from 2006, registered to work in the sector.
