Glasgow Green

The Green is by far the oldest of the city’s parks. It is situated within walking distance of the city centre east of the Saltmarket.

It is currently undergoing a renaissance with major investment through the Lottery Heritage Fund providing a catalyst for the redevelopment of the local neighborhood.

Glasgow Green is a park for everyone; it offers a rich variety of landscapes, architectural attractions, history and biodiversity, recreational activities, culture, events, and haven of peace and tranquility – a rare combination for any park in the United Kingdom.

Set on the banks of the Clyde where improved water quality has increased the diversity of species of aquatic life, birds and animals, the Green is also home to three rowing clubs. The park is extremely well maintained and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
