Thurso Bowling Club – Flat Green

Millbank House in Janet Street now the home of the Thurso Club. Fifty years ago it was the property of George Stewart, Land Officer with the Department of Agriculture, active elder of St Andrew’s Church, president of the Thurso bowling club, a prominent figure in local society. Thurso Bowling Club is next door to the Tesco supermarket, and the Thurso Club is in Janet Street, overlooking the river. Thurso Squash Club is also in Millbank Road, next door to the fire station. Visitors must be bowlers – £1.00 charge

Across the county two of the other three counties Bowling Clubs are St Fergus Bowling Club, Northcote Street, Wick (Club), the Lybster Outdoor Bowling Club and Rosebank (Wick) at the Thurso Road Club.

Hours – Open from 9.30am to 10pm every day. From 11pm to 1am the following day on Fridays; From 11pm to 11.45pm on Saturdays; From 2.30pm to 6.30pm on Sundays.

Thurso & District Squash Club

Two courts are available at Thurso Squash Club, a viewing balcony and ladies & gents changing areas with showering facilities. Social and competitive squash for adults and juniors is encouraged. Also available is a mixed individual league system (but not compulsory!) which is well supported by members.

Ten pin bowling at Viking Bowl

Six lane ten pin bowling alley. Open Bowling lanes are available to the general public at all times. Bumpers are available to stop the ball rolling off the lane into the gutter and help encourage youngsters in particular to enjoy the sport.

League bowling allows those who find this a fun and relaxing past time to compete against other individuals or teams for prizes which include both trophies and cash. There is no age limit. Summer and Winter adult leagues take place on Thursday with a popular children’s league (including tuition) on Sundays.” Also they have Over 50’s Bowling session on a Thursday afternoon from 2.00pm. The Bowling Alley now has a cinema as part of the leisure complex. Parties, Pro Shop, Bar, Restaurant, Children’s play area and games room and popular night spot.
