Conifer and deciduous wooded gorge through which the River Braan plunges. Picturesque folly “Ossian’s Hall” was built in 1758. The Hermitage has a small cave a few hundred metres in from the car park that used to be inhabited by Ossian the Hermit.some sceptics say its a folly, but they are just non believers. This is not so much a cave as a group of large rocks with a cleverly constructed stone roof the semi mythical poet Ossian is supposed to have lived and written his heroic verse here around the 3rd century.
