A former coaching stop, Tushielaw Inn was originally built as a drover’s halt and toll house. Tushielaw InnThe present building dates back to the 1830’s and is located in an idyllic rural setting within the Borders. Tushielaw provides not only perfect peace and quiet for those just wanting to get away from it all, but an excellent base for touring the picturesque surroundings.

A relaxing drive though the beautiful border hills takes you to Selkirk or Hawick, with the Scottish capital city of Edinburgh only an hour away. Historic houses, such as Traquair, Bowhill, Abbotsford and Floors Castle are all within easy reach.

These are the “Border Lands” where the Reivers held sway, a law unto themselves! However that was many a year ago. The surrounding hills and valleys are ideal for walking, whether you are a dedicated hill climber or more the relaxed rambler.

You have the Southern Upland way, the beautiful old bridle path to St Mary’s Loch and many more nearby. Excellent Trout fishing is available on the River Etterick forwild brown trout, still water trout fishing is offered free to residents on the Inn’s private Loch.

Salmon fishing can also be arranged (please contact us for details). The local area also supports many other field sports.The local countryside supports a wealth of wildlife species such as otters, hare, Roe deer and, many bird species such as Oystercatchers, Goosander, Dippers and many more to interest the experienced and novice nature lover.
