The firm not only celebrated its first anniversary at the beginning of October, 2011 but also moved into brand new premises on Carsegate Road North as well as opening new offices in Fort William and Thurso.
Moving from its original base at the In-Business Centre in Longman Drive, Korrie’s new premises, on a long-term lease, comprises two spacious units that have been fitted out to suit the needs of the business and have given the company a strong platform to continue its growth and development.
Already in its first year, the company has diversified from the original core business of plumbing and mechanical projects to add electrical and renewable energy to its portfolio to give the company a greater range of services.
Korrie recently formed a joint venture company, Highland Solar Solutions Limited with Invergordon-based ERG Windows and Conservatories, which will focus on installing both solar photovoltaic and solar thermal devices.
With the new government Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs) and Renewable Heat Incentives (RHIs), these forms of renewable energy installations are very much in demand and will help the business to grow and develop further.
The workforce has grown steadily between the three offices and is now around 65 personnel, which includes nine apprentices, four of whom were recruited from businesses that went into liquidation, and also five new apprentices (three plumbing and two electrical) recruited recently.
In the current climate this investment shows great faith and commitment for the future.
The financial year has also been extended to 15 months to allow the business to trade in calendar years going forward.
Donnie told Executive: “We’ve continued to be hugely supported by local construction companies and other previous customers. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported us.
“The move to the new premises has gone fantastically well and has added a huge amount to the profile of the company. To move into a new office and store in Inverness that we designed and put together, and take long term leases on the offices in Fort William and Thurso, has really helped the business establish itself, put down roots and create a strong foundation for the future.
“We’ve already diversified into electrical, renewables and maintenance services. Renewables in particular we expect to be a real growth area for us and we’ll continue to look at diversifying to give the business long-term stability and sustainability.”
