The Robert Gordon University business school offers a wide range of flexible options for those wishing to study. Their MBAs are accredited by the Association of MBAs, which is based in London but accredits programmes around the world. RGU run three MBAs – a general MBA, an MBA Oil and Gas Management and an MBA Information Management.
The MBA is available full-time, part-time (weekends) or through online learning. The weekend programme is extremely popular -students fly in from as far afield as Poland and London.
Each module is associated with a significant person in industry and the experts sometimes deliver presentations and hold question and answer sessions with students. Online students are also welcomed to all extra-curricular activities such as those that are arranged for full-time students.
The MBA leadership week is an important week for all MBA students -full-time, and second year part-time and online. All students come together on campus and work on a competitive business simulation exercise. Each group competes to generate the best aggregate return to shareholders.
It’s designed to give the students an opportunity to test their strategic thinking and strategy implementation- develop their financial awareness of the impact of their decisions and those of their competitors; hone their approach to being goal focused; and reflect on their interactions with others in developing a deeper understanding of team dynamics.
The week involves a series of inputs on leadership, communications and change, and some top-class industry experts speak at the event For example, Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil and Gas UK, spoke in 2013 for the third time.
The students get a huge benefit from the highly interactive sessions with the experts.
