And that’s something Faith Simpson had plenty of when she set up her own -very different – accountancy practice in Elgin six years ago. Faith’s faith has paid off time and time again as she built up her very successful business – and won Businesswoman of the Year 2013 (self-employed) at the glittering Highland Business Women’s Club annual awards dinner, where Kate Adie was speaking.
Originally from North Berwick, Faith qualified as an accountant with Deloitte’s in 1998 in Guernsey. After relocating to the north of Scotland, she set up her own company in 2006 – and she had a clear vision of what kind of service she wanted to provide.
Indispensible to her clients, and offering something different to the stereotypical stuffy, suited accountancy service. Faith now employs four people and is recruiting again.
Although Faith’s practice is in Elgin, she and her team service clients across Moray, the Highlands – and beyond. Using cloud computing, the team carry laptops and are happy to visit clients at their premises wherever necessary.
Faith explains: “My team and I head out with our laptops and really go the extra mile to sort things out for our clients. OS course, we provide excellent tax and accountancy services, but we’ll also offer strategic planning and advice, so it’s a pretty invaluable service. We’ll take the time to really get to know our clients, understand their requirements and help them to make the right decisions.”
Faith’s constantly innovating to make sure she provides clients with the best service possible. She’s recently launched a new tax app, available free to everyone (clients or not), which offers tax tips, loads of useful information and a range of handy calculators.
