For the last five years, FAO27 has approached the market demands of the fishing industry head-on, experiencing exponential growth for both itself and its clients through its unique, innovative operation.
By working with its clients to identify the needs of the market, the company has become synonymous with professional excellence, quality produce and its close ties with the carefully-selected Scottish seafood processors and fishers it works with.
Set up in 2009, as Intersea Food Scotland Ltd, managing director Anne Moseley worked initially by herself.
After that, the future of Mrs Moseley, and Intersea Food Scotland Ltd changed from being a small consultancy business into becoming a £2 million export sales business with a team of five people (three based on the continent), working on behalf of fishers and processors in Scotland who trust the company’s business and fishing knowledge.
With five years of operations under its belt, and with a team diligently working for continued co-operation, the decision was made earlier this year to start a rebranding process, from Intersea Food Scotland Ltd to FAO27 – an acronym for “Freshness And Origin, 27 for traceability”. It is a name with global recognition in the fishing community – FAO27 is the grid reference for the North Sea sector in the industry.
FAO27 won the Export Business of the Year and Success Through Partnership titles at the recent Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards in Edinburgh, where it was also a finalist in the Scottish Food & Drink Entrepreneur category.
In addition to this, FAO27 was nominated for two awards at the recent BQ Scottish Export Awards – Scottish Export Team of the Year, and Most Entrepreneurial Exporter of the Year – in Glasgow.
