With a reputation as “The Friendly Place to Play Golf”, Strathmore Golf Centre boasts two courses, the magnificent par 72 parkland Rannaleroch and the nine-hole Leitfie Links, as well as a ten-bay covered floodlit golf range, putting green and an excellent clubhouse – all set in the beautiful valley of Strathmore in the rolling Perthshire countryside.
Actually, it’s more than a golf course – this year sees the opening of a number of luxury lodges on the course, which will be available for sale or rent. Back to the golf, though. The Rannaleroch suits novices and low handicappers alike. There are challenges aplenty, but generous fairways and large greens mean decent shot-making shouldn’t be beyond even the most uncertain of beginners. Or if confidence – or time – is in short supply, the Leitfie Links offers a fine alternative.
There’s no waiting list, no joining fee and memberships are wide- ranging and economical, including junior memberships, senior, off peak and country (a specially discounted membership for those living 50 miles or more from the course).
Competitions continue throughout the season, with just one of the upcoming highlights being the Gents and Mixed Open Day on 29 May, with proceeds going towards Radio Tay’s “Cash for Kids”, a charity for which the club raises some £6,500 annually. Groups and societies are always welcome, with various packages available. Whatever the group requirements, Strathmore can create a package to suit, and always at outstanding value for money.
