Ellan-Bridge Stables – Ellan House

For the visitor who wants to experience the beauty of the Carrbridge area on horseback there is a stables. To find the stables, go up Station Road and watch out on the right hand side will be a sign for the Art Studio, there is a track beside it, go down there.

On the river bank to the immediate south side of the site boundaries, there is a footpath which leads to a footbridge across the river at Ellan. To the west of the site and on the same side of the river is a new timber clad dwellinghouse known as “Allt Beag” which ran along the north bank of the river from the Ellan Bridge.

The present suspension wooden bridge which crosses the river Dulnain between Dalrachney Beag and Ellan (access from Station Road or along the river bank from the Old Garage) was erected in 1992 by Ghurka soldiers who lived in the village hall while the work was carried out. It replaced an old bridge which had become unsafe.
