Pentland Canoe Club

Kayaking has been a popular pastime in Caithness for many years.

In 1984, the Pentland Canoe Club was formed to serve individuals living around Thurso who were interested in kayaking.

The Club was established with the aim to promote and teach kayaking in the West Caithness area mainly around Thurso.

The Club is very fortunate in its location, which permits most forms of recreational kayaking to take place. These are:

  • Pool canoeing (during the winter) in Thurso Swimming Pool
  • Sea Touring (during the summer months) around the varied coastlines in Scotland
  • White water kayaking (during the winter) on local rivers
  • Surfing (all year) when the surf is up
