Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials and County Fair is one of the largest and most prestigious equestrian events in the Scottish calendar. Held over four days in late August, it attracts around 45,000 visitors and over 1200 horses and ponies compete in either the three-day event, showjumping, Highland pony show, hunter show, National Pony Society (NPS) Scotland finals, ridden Clydesdales or pony club games.

The British Show Pony Society (BSPS) is also a family orientated national society which aims to improve the showing of the Children’s Riding Pony by promoting classes and competitions for Children’s Show Ponies, Show Hunter Ponies and Working Hunter Ponies. In addition the BSPS now includes classes for Mountain & Moorland ponies, Intermediates, Part Bred Arabs and Coloured Horses and Ponies.

BSPS Scotland provides children with the opportunities to compete at local shows throughout Scotland as well as represent their Country at National Level. In Scotland they have own branch and organise shows, training days and social events. They also run an annual summer points competition whereby members can gain points by competing throughout the season at affiliated shows. Trophies and Rosettes for this competition are presented at the Dinner Dance held in November each year.

North East Scotland Highland Pony Enthusiasts Society (NESHPES) has prided itself in encouraging people from all disciplines and interests – from large breeders to one pony owners – to enjoy a range of activities regardless of ability or background. Organise Annual Awards.

Central Scotland Highland Pony Club (CSHPC) encourage owners of pure and part-bred highland ponies, to participate in all equestrian activities, in particular within the central belt of Scotland. It prides itself in being a very sociable and friendly club which enjoys a wide variety of mounted and un-mounted, competitive and non competitive activities.
