Queen’s Cross Church, Glasgow

Submitted by Bulmer Hobson on Mon, 2010-03-22

This is the only Church designed by Mackintosh to be built and now the international headquarters of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society. The simplicity of the design is particularly inspiring.

The two magnificent stained-glass windows illuminate an interior robustly Presbyterian, yet richly, even sensually, ornamented. The exceptional relief carving on wood and stonework are highlights of the interior where light and space are used to dramatic effect.

Why not visit our Tea Room or buy that special present in our shop. We stock an extensive range of books and gifts that are exclusive to the Society. We even have a reading library for those wishing to learn more about the creative talents of Mackintosh and his contemporaries.
