From sandy beaches to 2,700 feet hills, the area offers all types of terrain for sport and walking / climbing. Fishing or Trout Angling services, boat angling
Rispond Estate lies on the north coast of Scotland overlooking Loch Eriboll with over 15,000 acres of stalking ground and a productive spate river. The Polla which runs down Strathbeg and flows into the south end of Loch Eriboll.
The sport available is extensive and covers stalking, salmon and sea trout and brown trout fishing – sea fishing and some rough shooting for the odd grouse, duck or woodcock. The estate has exclusive fishing rights on the lower 2½ miles of the river, which can provide excellent salmon and sea trout fishing given good water conditions. Prime fishing takes place from the west bank on the bottom mile of the river including the productive sea pool.
Fishing on the Durness Lochs is now controlled by the Keoldale Sheep Stock Club and Rispond Estate. The fishing pressure seems to have increased in recent years, but these lochs are still well worth a visit. The fishing is mainly by boat, but Loch Borralie also offers excellent bank fishing.
A small family run boat building business currently operating in it’s second decade, situated in the “craft village” Durness but with access to the harbour at Rispond and Loch Eriboll at Port Chamuill. 12ft- 13ft Loch boats made almost exclusively from European Larch which we have planked to our own specification. Either bare hull or fully fitted out with outboard or inboard engines.
Fishing is by fly only, with a single handed rod being entirely adequate. Day permits for Loch Sian (double electric outboard available) and other lochs (remote/accessible). Trout and occasional Sea Trout. B&B accommodation available in Durness from £25.00 per day. For details contact at Rispond Estate.
