Are you interested in angling or brown trout fishing?
Caithness is a paradise for anglers, there is great brown trout fishing in Loch Watten and in the numerous lochs of the famous “Flow Country”, also on the eastern side of the county there are many lochs with good quality brown trout.
Permits to fish are easily available from any of the tackle shops and salmon fishing is quite easily arranged through the same people or some of the hotels in the area. If you prefer sea fishing, then Caithness is a great venue, boats go out regularly and places can be booked through tackle shops. All the usual species are caught here with some very big specimens including shark on occasions!!
How to get there:
Near to Lybster, Caithness, in the far north of Scotland. Should you wish to take your car to the Orkneys, we are only 25 miles from the ferry port of Scrabster and it is just 30 miles to John O’Groats where you can take the foot ferry to Burwick which is on the southern tip of the Orkneys.
The town of Wick is only about 15 miles north of us and it has a variety of things to see and do as well as boasting some ‘high street’ shops.
To find us (from the south) follow the A99 road to Wick, about 1,4 mile before the village of Lybster you will see a sign on the roadside ‘Reisgill House’, turn left here and follow this road for about 600 metres. You will see a signposted driveway on your left leading to the house, follow the tree lined drive and enjoy a warm welcome and a cup of tea or coffee with homebakes. If you should travel from the north, then 1,4 mile after Lybster village you will see our sign, turn right and follow the road as above.
