Business is pleasure and beauty for two professional businesswomen who drove their passion for caring in a new direction.

June Mackay and Margaret McAllister opened luxury medi-spa Rosedene House in Inverness earlier 2011, after two years of fastidious planning and research. Housed in a luxuriously refurbished 19th century Victorian building in Drummond Crescent its exclusive range of treatments make it the ultimate destination for those searching for state of the art care and technology in hair and beauty.

Rosedene House is competitively priced and on a par with local businesses; it adds quality and experience to any treatment, not cost. It’s even got a licensed bistro so there’s plenty of time for relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere.

June said: “Margaret and I used to run a care company together and we’ve always had passion for the hair and beauty industry. This really is an establishment with a difference; here we have very easy parking and because we’re set so close the River Ness there are plenty of beautiful walks and views to enjoy before slipping back into an every day routine.

“This building has real gravitas and we’ve thoroughly refurbished it enabling us to create a bistro, hair salon, several therapy rooms, a clinical cosmetic dentistry room, and a laser room. We can do everything on site so our customers don’t have to rush from place to place. Minor surgical procedures can be carried out here whereas before we’ve known of people travelling to Glasgow, Manchester or abroad; now we’ve brought it to the Highlands.

“I think as a society we are appreciating more and more that hair and beauty isn’t just a physical transformation. For some people making a change to their appearance or taking real pride in themselves is a highly emotive experience. For this reason we have a professional life coach to hand, and a cognitive behavioural therapist. At Rosedene House our beauty isn’t just skin deep; we like to ensure that people are blemish free on the inside so we know they’re truly happy.”

Margaret added: “We personally trial every treatment that we offer here so that we can make genuine recommendations to customers, and because, they’re too good to miss out on! We give many free consultations exploring skin type, and to find out if a desired minor cosmetic surgery is suitable.

“June and I have worked side by side for many years and we complement each other’s strengths ensuring that we have versatile ideas and a balanced reflection of reality. We’re committed to making the Rosedene journey a happy and positive experience for all of our customers. We’re noticing that more men are taking advantage of the chance to look and feel great which is wonderful to see, and it certainly pleases their partners! We have many treatments for men and we’d love to see them making the most of themselves. We have a Power Plate gym machine which uses vibration to tone muscle and burn fat; it’s an excellent introduction to Rosedene for any fainthearted male!”

Rosedene was originally built in the 1860s by a leather merchant. It has since served as a maternity hospital, children’s home, and a business centre. The character of the listed building has been retained creating a rich and comforting ambience within grandeur.

Margaret added: “We have absolute respect for this building and its heritage. In so many ways the local community has ownership of Rosedene. We hope that our business is a fitting tribute to the joy, the lives, the playfulness, and the professional care that was previously housed here.”

Rosedene House offers a wide range of specialised treatments including facials, body massage, chakra balancing, eye treatments, make up lessons, hair removal, sunless tanning, CACI (non surgical facelift), and all the latest in nail art. It has a state of the art salon and offers pulsed light hair removal, stretch mark reduction and photofacials. Groups are welcomed at Rosedene, and there’s a special discount on some treatments for senior citizens.

There are several anti-wrinkle treatments available including a powerful PALOMAR machine. If you book a hair (the highly regarded Hair Directory) and beauty appointment together you can even save 20 per cent off the total cost.
