Abernethy Waters

In conjunction with the Abernethy Angling Improvement Association we are able to offer visitors to Boat of Garten, Nethy Bridge, Dulnain Bridge and Carr-Bridge 6 incredible miles of double bank fishing on the Spey. This section consists of 15 named pools. Each year well in excess of 1100 sea trout are taken from these waters. The Spey offers some of the finest sea trout fishing in the world.

There is water to suit all types of fishing, from the fast water of the Millers and Nethy Pools, ideal for the fly, to the slower running fish holding pools such as Frankles Corner and the Lower Railway Pool.

In excess of 260 Sea Trout and 145 Salmon were taken from these waters in the 2008 Season, with the best Salmon weighing-in at 20lbs and the best Sea Trout at 7lbs.

Fly, spinning and bait fishing are permitted, however, some pools become fly only in the summer months. A 9-10ft trout rod and waders should be used, with Ally Shrimp, Munro Killer, Silver Stoats Tail and Willie Gunn flies offering the best return.

The Abernethy Waters also offer a superb facility for disabled fishers, the Association has provided excellent disabled access on one of the best beats of the river. The parking area and path are tarred and paved for ease of access. There are four access bays which have rod rests at wheelchair height and each bay is outlined by logs for safety.
