Dornoch Beach

Dornoch is a sleepy, olde world town, ideal for a relaxing, restful break. It is well situated for touring the rugged Northern and Western Highlands or a journey break on the way to the Orkney Islands. Outdoor pursuits such as fishing, coast and hill walking, bird watching and, of course, golf are all on the doorstep. You are just four minutes walk from the world-renowned Royal Dornoch Golf Club and Dornoch’s acclaimed beach.

Dornoch Beach is a fine long sandy beach located on the Dornoch Firth and has been awarded the “Seaside Award” status as a clean bathing beach. Miles of golden sands stretch from Dornoch point heading past Embo Beach to the mouth of Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve. Further north along the coast there are two more fine sandy beaches, also award winning and these are located at Golspie and Brora. To the front of an established machair dune system is a beautiful expanse of golden sand. The beach is also adjacent to a Site of Special Scientific Interest featuring nesting birds, flora and fauna. There are wonderful views of Dornoch Firth and beyond. The beach was awarded ‘Rural Seaside Award’ in 2004. Sandy, dunes, quiet & tranquil.

Beach access is through the Golf Course; one of Scotland’s best beaches, regularly winning a rural beach award for cleanliness.. 6 miles – wonderful, huge sandy dornoch Beach across the sand dunes towards the Struie Hill. These turn more rocky to the north, providing hours of enjoyment for those who want nothing more than watching a world in miniature in a rock pool.
