Highland Waste Services established in 1996, is a well-known local company providing comprehensive waste management for businesses of all sizes across the north of Scotland.
The company has steadily grown its workforce and following HWS acquiring an additional site in Evanton, it now employs some 30 members of staff.
The Invergordon-based company offers professional waste and recycling solutions to both the public and private sectors, including renewable energy, on and off-shore oil companies and retail establishments.
For a number of years, HWS has worked with many professional companies within the aquaculture industry to recycle a wide range of waste materials.
Having already had the recycling systems in place, HWS is well placed to provide a range of services to companies within the aquaculture sector.
Fish farms were already aware that their waste materials could be recycled; it was finding someone local to do it that was the issue. The only previous option was to transport the plastics down to processors in the north of England, which is costly.
Highland Waste Services can collect materials from the aquaculture site and remove any discarded or end of life items.
HWS has carried out numerous site clearances on the west coast of Scotland and on the Islands. Pre-processing materials on site to minimise transport use and emissions makes this operation more environmentally friendly too.
Alternatively the client can deliver the materials to the HWS facility in the Cromarty Firth Industrial Park. These materials are then processed on site using specialist equipment before being distributed across the United Kingdom to be recycled into new plastic products.
In addition to what is an extensive and diverse site, Highland Waste Services also has a busy drop-off point, which major fish feed suppliers in the north use to drop off their used bags to be recycled.
Following the delivery or collection of materials and as part of their ongoing service to the client, HWS sends out monthly reports to them, giving the company a breakdown of all the waste that has come off their site letting them know how much went on to be recycled. These reports are very beneficial to companies that have the requirement to undergo environmental audit.
HWS provides an extensive choice of practical and easy-to-use skips, suitable for a wide range of waste types. They are available in a variety of sizes and types (both open and closed) ranging from four cubic yards to 40 cubic yards.
The company has a large fleet of waste carrier vehicles to cater for any situation and prides itself on its ability to provide a one-stop service for waste management.
