PROVEN INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS
A leading provider of environmental, industrial and waste management services is going from strength to strength thanks to its dedicated employees, long-term clients and unrivalled reputation as a one stop shop.
The MSIS Group is a market leader in the provision of specialised services to the oil and gas, utilities, distilleries, construction and civil engineering sectors.
Founded in 1998, with head offices operating from Invergordon, Aberdeen and West Africa, the company has created and maintained an impeccable reputation for providing practical and competitively priced solutions to support clients in their quest to limit downtime and boost efficiency.
The services typically offered by MSIS Group include: rig maintenance, NORM decontamination, specialist cleaning and coatings, CCTV camera inspection, deep tank cleaning, environmental management, tanker hire, waste management, civil engineering, asbestos removal and equipment sales and rental.
With such an array of specialised services, each of which complement different parts of the business, it is no surprise the group’s turnover reached an all time high of £9.6 million in 2011. The business employs around 80 full-time personnel between all locations with additional ad hoc requirements during busy periods.
The addition of a civils division in 2010, with the purchase of J Buchan and Sons Muir of Ord, a small civil engineering company with a Scottish Water operations maintenance term contract, has proven an incredible success. With a growing number of new contracts across various projects in the North of Scotland, the workforce in this division alone has increased from two operatives to five small teams with a management structure, which is attached to the existing Invergordon depot.
To further enhance the level of support that MSIS Group offers to UK clients, they are now working as an authorised contractor for Belzona Polymerics so that they can offer a complete repair and protection service within all industries. Belzona is a global leader in the design and manufacture of industrial protective coatings and polymer repair composites. It’s particularly useful in preventing the leakage of hazardous materials and can be applied to many different environments, although it is proving particularly popular within the distillery sector.
The Invergordon base deals with all aspects of the onshore side of the business as well as all logistics for offshore and international business. The Aberdeen base is where all offshore and international business development is conducted as well as the location of its equipment sales and rental division. This division of the MSIS Group offers abroad range of state of the art technology such as pressure washers, vacuum units and pumps, trash compactors for use offshore. MSIS Group also offers a one-year manufacturing warranty and telephone technical support on equipment.
Invergordon based operations director Jim MacAskill said: “We pride ourselves on being aone stop shop that can respond quickly, effectively and efficiently to the industrial needs of our customers.
“We use technology to ensure that we can meet the timescales of our clients but when it comes to communication we recognise the importance of face to face time and wherever possible we prefer to conduct our business in this way.Weknow that giving time and expertise to our clients ensures that they can maintain peace of mind and know that they are being looked after in the best way possible.”
Jim says that their ability to diversify guarantees quality: “When the firm first set up 14 years ago it was instantly clear that offering a wider range of services would ensure that our customers reaped the greatest benefit. Because we have specialist equipment and expertise as well as experience we are in a position to make recommendations and to guarantee that there is a seamless approach to each job.
“We know that we don’t have to rely on other businesses to prepare for us or to complete aproject after us. This gives our clients a guarantee of quality, accountability, and afar more effective budget. “Legislation stipulates that any confined space activity needs to be risk assessed to ascertain whether an emergency rescue team is required. This is particularly important for projects such as tank cleaning, vessel inspections, or pump chamber maintenance. We’ve made aconscious decision to have adedicated emergency rescue team that can work within a variety of sectors including oil and gas, distillery, civil and utilities. Our team has undergone substantial training in toxic gases and fumes, use of breathing apparatus and casualty handling, search and recovery techniques, and first aid training.
“Many firms will have an emergency rescue team but we pride ourselves in having a dedicated team who excel in their field. For example they are regularly deployed to BG Armada platform (owned by the BG Group, formerly known as British Gas).
“The repeat business that we generate speaks volumes about our quality of service, professionalism and attention to detail. Our work with the BG Group has been ongoing for the past five years and we’ve also been working with Talisman for a number of years.
“Some of our clients include Global Energy Group, Diageo, Whyte & Mackay, Scottish and Southern Energy, Chivas Brothers, Highland Distilleries and Scottish Water.
Jim concluded: “All in all we offer a vast range of quality services to suit the intricate needs of our customers and we’re always more than happy to discuss how we can assist in on and offshore projects (UK and internationally).”
